The 2022 Sun Moon Lake Come! Bikeday Bike Carnival Theme Day in conjunction with the Taiwan Bicycle Tourism Festival was launched at Xiangshan Visitor Center on November 12 by Jian Qingfa, Director of Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Management Office under the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) and TaiWan OhBear team leader, Vice Mayor Tadahiro Doi and Speaker Yano Yuji, from Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, Turkish popular bicycle influencer Shu Shu, Yuchi Township head Liu Qifan, Secretary Nie from the Legislator Service Office of Legislator Ma Wenjun, Director Lai from the Legislator Service Office of Legislator Xu Shuhua, Sun Moon Lake Tourism Circle Alliance Spokesperson Peng Chengyu, Taiwan B&B Association Chairman Chang Xinying and Specialist Huang from Nantou County Government Tourism Department.
In addition to theme day, other activities include cycling around the lake challenge certification, riding wide game at Sun Moon Lake, children's scooter competition, and a dining car market with tricycles dining cars. This year, we will also invite professionally trained bicycle guides to take tourists along the classic sections of the Sun Moon Lake Bikeway. This will also provide safe and exciting touring services, promote the drinking cup rental service, and urge everyone to cut back on garbage to protect the environment.
This year, the sister bikeway of Sun Moon Lake Bikeway in Setouchi Shimanami Kaido (Shimanami, Japan) held the post-epidemic "Setouchi Shimanami Kaido International Cycling Event, Cycling Shimanami 2022." In addition, Vice Mayor Tadahiro Doi and Speaker Yano Yuji from Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, will come Taiwan to participate in the opening ceremony, and experience first-hand the beautiful scenery of Sun Moon Lake Bikeway. Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Management Office also provides an online Setouchi Shimanami Kaido biking experience to allow tourists to experience the wonderful scenery in Japan. Shimanami Japan chairman Yuhiro Hiratani recorded a video in which he conveyed his best wishes for the Sun Moon Lake Come! Bikeday theme day event, which will help to boost cooperation between Taiwan and Japan. It is hoped that more international tourists will visit Sun Moon Lake after Taiwan lifts its border controls.
The Sun Moon Lake route, one of 16 cycling routes, has a complete dedicated bicycle lane and road system. This is suitable for easy riding on classic sections or the round the lake challenge. Participants can ride their bikes while enjoy the beautiful scenery along the route.
