Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area

Due to insufficient rainfall and Sun Moon Lake Reservoir’s low water level, it becomes risky for visitors to walk the area’s piers, floating docks, and bridges. Starting from April 1, Zhaowu Pier and Xuanguang Temple Pier are closed, and no visitors may take boats from there. However, security guards are on patrol during the day. Visitors may ask for help from them if necessary.
Visitors are also advised to learn about the lake-tour routes from boat companies in advance, to make sure their rights are unaffected, and make sure they are physically fit enough for joining the tours.
