For the event schedules, please refer to the official site or poster for any latest changes.
Sun Moon Lake has a rich natural ecology. From April to May every year, visitors can enjoy romantic scenery where fireflies, such as Aquatica ficta, Luciola cerata, Luciola terminalis and Curtos sauteri, dance under the star-filled sky at six major firefly viewing spots: Taomi, Dalin, Shuishe, Toushe, Tannan and Shuanglong. Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Headquarters cooperates with multiple local associations every year to create a beautiful home for fireflies, providing a high-quality tourism environment, and offering a number of firefly appreciation ecological tours that incorporate local experience and features.
In order to protect the fireflies and their living environment, visitors should sign up for a firefly appreciation experience tour provide by Sun Moon Lake local associations. Under the guidance of experts, tourists learn about the natural ecology and humanistic characteristics of Sun Moon Lake. During the day, there are various activities such as fish and shrimp ecological explorations, farming experiences, handmade food DIY, tribal tours and indigenous culture experience events. These enable visitors to experience the beauty of Sun Moon Lake in innovative ways. Operators, including many nearby hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village and Sun Moon Lake Cable Car Station, have also introduced various time-limited great value offers that meet the needs of the whole family.
