Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area

Located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Jinlong Mountain is a coveted location for admiring the sea of clouds and sunrise in Taiwan. Nicknamed “Chui Zi Liao”, and lovingly known as “Xian Zha Jiao” among the locals, it has an elevation of approximately 820m. It offers a commanding view of high-elevation sceneries such as a sea of clouds, multi-colored street lights piercing through the fog at night like stained glass, and first light, making it an extremely popular destination for appreciating sunrises and hiking. In terms of popularity, it is on par with Xiao Ge Tou in New Taipei City and ErLiao in Tainan.
 
【Hiking the Jinlong Mountain to Welcome the First Light of 2019】will kick off in Yuchi Township, Nantou County on January 1, 2019. In order to provide the public with better recreational experience and welcome the brand new year in a cheerful mood, the organizer has invited singers to stage an exciting musical feast. Furthermore, the “Donate Invoice to Win Fantastic Prizes” lottery will be held, bringing together hiking activity and public welfare. All collected invoices will be donate to the Genesis Social Welfare Foundation to care about patients in vegetative state, thus making the hiking event that much more meaningful. For every 5 invoices donated, you will receive a lottery ticket and stand a chance to win fantastic prizes (1,000 lottery tickets will be issued on a first-come-first-served basis). Due to the mountainous terrain of Jinlong Mountain, and the lack of street lights in maintaining the viewing quality of multi-colored street lights piercing through the fog at night like stained glass and the sea of clouds, safety risk of the visitors caused by over-crowdedness is of the utmost concern, therefore traffic and pedestrian flow will be implemented at the scene. Let us make a date at Jinlong Mountain to embrace the dawning of a brand new year.

*Note:

1. If you wish to participate in the “Donate Invoices to Win Fantastic Prizes” lottery event, please donate 5 invoices at the trailhead or service desk by the stage (must be valid invoices) to receive a lottery ticket. If you donate 10 invoices, you will receive 2 lottery tickets and so on. No lottery tickets will be re-issued if they are misplaced (while stocks last). Please place the lottery tickets into the lottery box to stand a chance to win the prizes.
2. The prizewinner must be present during the lottery, as the organizer will not mail the prizes won. They must be collected on-site.
3. The prizes may not be changed, transferred or redeemed for cash.
4. Please retain the ticket stub in order to collect your prize at the stage area after the event.
5. According to the Income Tax Act of the ROC, if the value of the prize exceeds NT$1,000, the prizewinners must declare and submit a copy of their national identification card as proof of tax declaration. For prizes worth more than NT$20,000, the prize winners must pay 10% tax for income from prizes and awards won by chance (20% for foreigners or those without ROC nationality).
6. The participants are deemed to have read and agreed with explanations and regulations of the event.

2. Blue line: Yidashao Yiyong St. intersection←→Jinlong Mountain venue (2 buses). Single journey: 40min : 

• Departure - 04:50, 05:10 (last bus)
• Return - 08:00, 08:30, 09:00 (last bus)

3. Green line: Classic Hotel-Fantasy Palace←→Jinlong Mountain venue (1 bus). Single journey: 20min.
(Stops along the way: Yuchi Farmers Association. 7-ELEVEN Xin Yu Chi store (departure: Yuchi Night Market across the road)

※The free shuttle bus service is only available through reservation in advance on first come, first served basis. The seats are limited, please make reservation beforehand. Those who fail to do so will have to travel to the venue by themselves.
※Reservation hotline: Sun Moon Lake Tourism Development Association. Tel. 049-2895000 (Ms. Chen, Ms. Deng, Mr. Chang). Each bus is limited to 60 passengers, no additional buses will be available, so please make reservation in advance.
 
* Note

1. Sun Moon Lake first light welcoming event offers free shuttle bus service to and from the event venue for visitors with advanced reservation only (holders of red, blue and green line bus tickets). The buses will have banners with “Reserved Shuttle Bus” and “Route Name”, please board the bus by following the staff’s instructions.
2. During the first light welcoming event, the shuttle bus service will be suspended (06:00-08:00), please assemble at the reserved bus boarding location in order to leave the venue.
3. The reserved shuttle buses will be dispatched based on the traffic conditions in order to evacuate the crowd, please be patient.
4. Due to limited seating capacity, if the visitors are unable to board the reserved bus, please make use of other shuttle bus routes or travel to the venue by yourselves.
