After an incredible response to the Spring, Summer and Autumn challenges, all medals from the first three seasons were redeemed ahead of schedule. Now it’s time for the final ride of the year — the Winter Cycling Certification!
The Winter Certification runs from October 1 to December 31, 2026, with a total of 1,400 limited-edition Winter medals available: 840 in October, 280 in November and 280 in December. Medal availability is limited each month and redemption will close once the monthly quota has been reached.
No advance registration is required. Cyclists can take on the challenge at their own pace by completing a full cycling loop around Sun Moon Lake and fulfilling the following requirements:
- Make a single purchase of at least NT$100 and keep the receipt or invoice.
- Complete the designated cycling route and keep a record of your GPS route.
- Take challenge photos at all three designated locations: Xiangshan Reflection, Tutingzai Trail, and the Sun Moon Chair near Fleur de Chine Hotel.
- Complete the designated monthly hand gesture in each photo. The cyclist, bicycle and designated photo location must all be visible.
- Upload the required information to the online reservation system after completing the challenge.
- Visit the Xiangshan Visitor Center in person within the redemption period with a photo ID and proof of purchase to redeem your Winter medal.
To make the challenge easier for international cyclists and independent travelers, we have also created the Winter Certification route on Komoot. International riders can use it to check the route, distance and navigation information before setting off.
