The four-day Mid-Autumn Festival and Teachers’ Day long weekend will run from September 25 to 28, 2026, while the three-day National Day long weekend will run from October 9 to 11, 2026. To provide visitors with a safe and worry-free travel experience, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Headquarters under the Tourism Administration, MOTC (hereinafter referred to as the Headquarters) encourages visitors to use public transportation whenever possible. This will help them minimize the fatigue of driving in heavy traffic, relax, and fully enjoy the beauty of nature. Travelers planning a trip during the long weekends are reminded of the following:

II. Travel Preparations and Helpful Reminders:
(1) Check the weather forecast before departure on the Weather on Demand platform, tune in to the Police Broadcasting Service for traffic updates, and monitor real-time traffic information on changeable message signs (CMS) along the road to avoid congested routes.
(2) Inspect your vehicle before departure, including the coolant, battery fluid, windshield washer fluid, engine oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid, tire pressure, and lights, to ensure a safe journey. Please also carry a warning triangle in your vehicle.
(3) If you require overnight accommodation, please make arrangements in advance.
(4) Do not drink and drive.
(5) Make Leave No Trace a habit and take your trash with you to help keep the environment clean.
(6) Handle lithium batteries safely. Protect battery terminals against short circuits, completely power off checked equipment containing lithium batteries and ensure that it cannot be accidentally activated, and do not use power banks to charge devices during flights.
