  • It depends on how many sections you take. One section is NT 21, the whole course NT 80. You also can take a boat trip on the bus terminal at Syuenguang Temple, and the promotional boat trip fare is only NT 200 if you show your coupon of bus ticket.

  • It is not easy to go there after 921 Earthquake. I suggest that you take a bus to Taichung or Taipei, then take another bus or train or airplane to Hwa-lien.

  • Yes, you can rent a bike or an electric bike at "Del Lago Hotel", "Ciao-er-syuan" and "Jial-cyuan". All of them are located on the Jhong-shan Road. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Moon Lake while you are riding a bike on the path. Its entrance is near the Siang-shan Resort Area.
  • Shuei-she and Ita Thao Villages are the most populated areas around the lake. Many souvenir stores, restaurants, hotels and hostels are located in these two villages. The Visitor Center is located in the Shuei-she village. The Ita Thao village is on the opposite side of the lake. You can go there by driving a car or boarding a boat, or taking the round-the-lake bus on weekends.
  • The Long-Fong Temple is located on the Jhong-sang Street near the Ming-tan Junior High School. It takes about 20 minutes to go there on foot from Shui-Ser Visitor Center.

  • Yes, there is a pharmacy along the Jhong-shang Road. As to clinics, you'll have to go to the downtown of Yu-chih.
  • There are many activities held in the Sun Moon Lake round the year. The major activities are the Cherry Blossom Festival, the International Fireworks Festival, and the Cross-Lake Swim meet. The Cherry Blossom Festival is held in every February at Sun Moon Lake and Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village. Both the Fireworks Festival and the Cross-Lake Swimming meet are held in September at Sun Moon Lake.
  • Firstly, the water is recycled due to the pump-storage hydroelectric power generation. The water of the lake is drawn to the plants for generating power during the daytime, and is pumped back to the lake during the nighttime. Some of the water flows to downstream for drinking and irrigation. Secondly, the deepest depth is about 30 meters, and deep water makes lake look clear. Thirdly, the growth of the plants and fishes in the lake are under control. The Taiwan Power Company doesn’t let the plants and fishes pollute the water, so Taiwan Power Company would do anything at any time to help improve the water quality.
