In 2023, Sun Moon Lake unveiled the newly built Takrahaz Water Cycling Path, a 600-meter route connecting Ita Thao Pier Plaza to the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway Station. Hugging the lake surface and set slightly apart from the shoreline, the path gives visitors the feeling of walking on water, making it an instant must-visit attraction at Sun Moon Lake.

Named after the Thao tribe's legend of the fish spirit, the Takrahaz Water Cycling Path celebrates the Thao people's fishing culture and their philosophy of sustainable living. The design draws on local cultural motifs, with highlights including the Big Fish Platform and fish trap-shaped trellises. From the Ropeway Station, visitors can continue along the path to the Nine Frogs Stack viewing platform, a continuous stretch of roughly 2.4 kilometers from Ita Thao that takes around 40 to 50 minutes to walk, rewarding visitors with richly varied scenery along the way.
