There are 2 entrances for Shuishe Hiking Trail: The northern entrances are next to the bus parking lot of the Youth Activity Center where the rock mass sits at the starting point of the trail, while the southern entrance is within the Dehua Shao Pre-fabricated Housing Settlement with a stone sculpture as the starting point of the trail. The altitude of the trail can reach 1300 meters, making it quite an enduring hiking trail. Upon reaching its peak, hikers can look down on the views of the Sun Moon Lake and the Central Range.
Given its elevating altitude, the forest form on both sides of the trail includes a low-altitude broad-leave forest and mid-altitude mixed coniferous-broad-leave forest. There is great variation regarding the forest and it is ecologically rich with birds, insects and animals, making it the perfect path for ecological observation. If you only have limited time, you can go down the mountain along the circular route after reaching its peak. You can reach the southern or northern entrance in just about 2 hours along the series of wooded trails. This is the most relatively popular itinerary.
