Houjian Mountain is one of Sun Moon Lake's four “beautiful spots”. It has an elevation of 1,008 meters, and it can be entered at the Toushe Station, which is the last station along the Nantou Bus Company route. Toushe Station has an elevation of 633 meters.
The trail rises a further 345 meters, and the entire trail is 6.5 kilometers in length. It provides a challenging walk, and good stamina is required. At the top of the mountain are pavilions for resting as well as picnic tables and chairs. From the summit, one can see out onto the Sun Moon Lake landscape, and enjoy its beautiful scenery.
