The area's highlights include the Platform, Checheng Station, the Experience Factory, the Log Pond Nature Trail, the Wood Museum, Checheng Old Street, and the Shuili River Trail. With clearly laid-out routes and solid guided services, it's a destination visitors of all ages can explore freely.

Formerly Checheng Elementary School, the place was abolished in 2015 due to the country's low fertility rate. As the existing visitor center is rather small, upon discussions, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Headquarters and community groups decided to revitalize the elementary school buildings. The result is the Railway Tourist Classroom and the New Checheng Visitor Center. More services are available now, and the school's big playground is used as a parking space for tourist buses.
The most comfortable restaurant in Checheng Village with arguably its best views, Cedar Tea House serves fresh local ingredients personally sourced each morning by the manager from nearby markets, all cooked to order. Diners can gaze out at dense, shadowy woodland and a still log pond catching the light: a meal and a view that need no separation. The restaurant's signature "wooden bucket bento" comes in the only wooden containers in Taiwan certified with the MIT Mark. Finish your meal and take the bucket to the Experience Factory for a complimentary wood-burning session, where you can stamp your own lid and take a piece of Checheng home.

The Timber Pond was used to store the logs which were chopped down from the mountains. By soaking the logs in the water, their life can be extended. Now you can walk on the trail around the pond and see the beautiful scenery, or sit beside it to enjoy the comforting breeze.
"The Grove Business Area" is a combination of shopping, gourmet, education and entertainment, enabling visitors to feel relaxed as if they were being exposed to Mother Nature. Visit the "Experience Workshop" to experience being a carpenter on your own. Here the professional skills of "Checheng Lumbering" are passed on. By having your first intimate experience with woods with creativity and having a childlike innocence, it allows everyone to enjoy the pleasure of making their own objects. Walking along The Grove, you visit the creative shops in the business area at ease and indulge yourself in the joy of shopping. You can also taste the well-known wooden barrel meal and gourmets here at the Wooden Tea House while having some creamy yogurt ice cream. Let's make some great memories here.
