Endemic Species Research Institute

Introduction

There is one treasure house in the Jiji Township - Endemic Species Research Institute.
To promote local ecological education, the institute has set up a Conservation Education Center with the purpose of introducing the valuable ecological system, rare species in Taiwan, and issues about environmental conservation. Exhibits of different themes are periodically hosted here, and narrators will explain important environmental conservation concepts in an easily understandable fashion.
An Ecological Education Park, Butterfly Conservatory and Garden are featured outside the institute. The park is purposefully decorated to create a forest environment and attract birds and insects; the Aquatic Plant Eco-Pond is available inside the institute. If you are tired, you can just sit in the pavilions and admire the groups of Mallard ducks swimming gracefully in the pond as if they are in a wild forest. Besides achieving intellectual satisfaction, you can also relax as you tour these facilities.
As you walk into the Butterfly Conservatory, you can admire all the butterflies dancing in the air, and if you are lucky, one of those elegant creatures may rest on your shoulders.
The conservation Education Center set up a wildlife sanctuary and from 1990 it has saved more than 3000 wild animals. Some raptors are also well taken care of in the center.  On the ecological trail, you can observe rare and valuable birds at a close distance. This will be an experience of a lifetime you won't regret!
