Caonan Wetland

Introduction

Although the Caonan Wetland measures only 3 hectares in area, there are more than 200 species of woody plants and herbaceous plants;  more than 10 species of aquatic plants, common birds, frogs, dragonflies, and damselflies; rich ecological resources are also  located here. It is a valuable wetland for ecological education and tourist enjoyment in Central Taiwan.

All the recreational facilities, including portable cages, frog briefing rooms, and thrilling bridges, are meaningful in terms of ecological preservation. They were built and are maintained voluntarily by local residents, and are popular among tourists.

As a result of the preservation effort of the local residents, this wetland becomes a preferred site for watching fireflies in the Puli area in April and May. During hot summer days, the lotus flowers blossom and move gently in the breeze like green waves, bringing a cooling sensation.

However, as this wetland is hidden in the woods, you may find it difficult to locate without the help of tourist guides or anyone familiar with the area.
