Sun Moon Lake Cable Car (Ropeway) inaugurates Dec. 28 (2010-01-17 11:10:04)

The Sun Moon Lake Cable Car has opened on Dec. 28, 2009. Special offers are available during the opening period.

Sun Moon Lake Cable Car, a highly anticipated transportation system at the lake area, has opened on Dec. 28 to the public. Before March 31, 2010, passengers can all enjoy special fares, with a full ticket at NT$250 or a group ticket at NT$225.

After this date, ticket prices will return to normal as follows: a full fare at NT$300; a discounted fare at NT$250; a group fare (20 people or more) at NT$270; and a discounted group fare at NT$225. Discounted fares apply to seniors aged 60 and above 60, preschool children of 100cm tall or above, and those with a benefit booklet for the disabled.

Those interested in taking a ride may either purchase tickets and get on a cable car at one station in the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, or at the other just in front of the Nantou Sun Moon Lake Youth Activity Center, if they only want to try out the cable cars than enjoying the village together.

The ropeway is available from 10:30a.m. until 4p.m. on weekdays. For its opening hours on weekends and more information on ticket prices, please go to the official website of the FACV at www.nine.com.tw.

Special ticket offer at NT$490 from Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village

In celebration of the inauguration of the Sun Moon Lake Cable Car system, the Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village offers its visitors a special ticket price at NT$490, which normally costs NT$700, between Dec. 31, 2009 and Feb. 13, 2010. The super-value ticket not only includes access to all the rides and performances in the park, but also sends you to the ropeway.

Passengers of the Sun Moon Lake Cable Car may also purchase tickets to the FACV at the village station, if they have only bought cable car tickets than combined “cable car + village” ones. They will only have to pay for the price difference of a combined fare than a full village fare—a great deal to get for an enjoyable trip.

The ropeway system would be out of service during a monthly maintenance day, which is the Wednesday of the second week of a month. This practice will not be carried out in Jan. 2010, as it has just inaugurated. From Feb. 2010 on, this rule will become valid.
