New Sun Moon Lake Water Shuttle available now (2009-12-14 09:54:19)

The Sun Moon Lake Water Shuttle began its trial operation Nov. 20, to go with various featured visiting routes.

The Water Shuttle, charged by sections, provides daily services between 08:50 and 17:00. Eight collaborating companies will be sending out one of their 53 yachts to serve visitors at every 15 to 30 minutes, amid the Shuishe, Ida Shao and Xuanguang Temple wharfs.

Aside from a captain and several assistants accompanying passengers through the cruise as regulated, a unified distinguishing mark will be painted on each yacht, along with specified seats for tourist visitors to easily identify the Water Shuttle.

Schedules, prices and special offers will be made public on site, to allow visitors plan a customized trip on their own. During the trial operation period, a discount scheme is offered, with an adult ticket costing NT$100 and a preferential ticket at NT$50 covering all three sections of the Sun Moon Lake Water Shuttle route. The offer will last until Dec. 18, when the operation officially starts with the same high-quality services.

The recommended routes to match the new transportation service are as follows: Taiwan High Speed Rail passengers, after getting off at the THSR Taichung Station in Wurih, may take the National Highway 6 direct bus to Shuishe Visitor Center at Sun Moon Lake before taking the Water Shuttle at nearby Shuishe Wharf to Ida Shao. They may also take the Water Shuttle to Xuanguang Temple Wharf, where they may take a day tour along the Qinglong Mountain Hiking Trail to Cien Pagoda for a panoramic view of the lake area before heading to Xuanzhang Temple for a cup of Soon Moon Lake black tea. Upon returning to Shuishe, visitors may stop for meals before going home.

On additional news, cable car service between Sun Moon Lake and Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village will soon inaugurate.

Thus visitors can expect themselves to discover the beauty of Sun Moon Lake through comprehensive transportation services in the near future. They make walk along hiking trails, ride bikes or take round-the-lake buses on land; take Water Shuttle on the sea; or take cable cars in the air.

Sun Moon Lake looks forward to serving more visitors with its new transportation services!
