 | | The Shueishe Mountain Trail has two entrances. The northern entrance is beside the large vehicles' park of the Youth Activity Center, and the stone block at the entrance marks the start of the trail. | | The southern entrance is located at the Dehua Village cluster of Thao residences, and the stone carved image at the entrance marks the start of the trail. The trail rises 1,300 meters, and this section of the trail requires good stamina. From the top, one can view Sun Moon Lake, and enjoy the pleasant view of the Central Mountain Range.
Because of the higher elevation rise, the forest areas on both sides of the trail range from the low-elevation broad-leafed forests to the middle-elevation mixed coniferous and broad-leafed forests. There is a rich and varied bird, insect, and animal ecology, making it a superb trail for viewing the ecology. If time is limited, once you reach the mountain gap, you can follow the road that circles down the mountain. You will pass a series of elevated wooden pathways, and about two hours are needed to reach the south or north exits. This is one of the more popular hiking trails.
